Of the cars in City X, those built before 1980 have been built more skillfully than those built in the past year. Therefore, the way that automobile manufacturers built cars before 1980 is superior to the way manufacturers build cars today.
< 1980 the cars were better builder
> 1980 the cares were not so well constructed
Why this is not true ?
Which of the following, if true, most seriously undermines the argument?
A. Cars are generally built more skillfully than other vehicles since more are produced.
Who cares about the comparison
B. Cars built today generally weigh more than cars built before 1980.
Who cares of the weight
C. The parts used to make cars today are not appreciably different in quality from parts used in 1980.
part quality does not explain why before the cares were better
D. The more skillfully a car has been built, the less likely it is to be discarded and junked.
This weakens the argument because if cars that are built better last longer, then the cars in City X built before 1980 probably still exist because of the quality with which they were built.
E. The average number of training hours for those who manufacture cars is now half of what it was in 1975.
who cares about the training
Hope this helps
