Apply the slope formula to get: (9 - y)/(4 - 6) = -2
Simplify: (9 - y)/(-2) = -2
Multiply both sides by -2 to get: (9 - y) = 4
Solve: y = 5
Answer: 5

The slope formula is y2-y1/x2-x1. Using (4, 9) as x1 and y1 and (6, y) as
x2 and y2
, and plugging in –2 for the slope and solving for y we get :
y=5
