Superficially, college graduates in 1982 resemble college graduates of 1964; they are fairly conservative, well dressed, and interested in tradition; they respect their parents. But there is a deepseated difference: a majority of the members of the class of 1982 who were surveyed in their freshman year stated that making a good income was an important reason for their decision to go to college.


The statements in the passage above, if true, best support which of the following conclusions?

(A) The concerns of college graduates in 1964 were superficial compared to the financial worries of college graduates of 1982.
(B) Fewer than half the students of the class of 1964 declared as freshmen that they entered college in order to increase their earning potential.

This one was tough. took me 3 mins!

the mistake I did was I didn't read the question thoroughly .

It states that which of the following if true supports the conclusion.

as it mentioned that "more freshmen in 1982 class surveyed in their freshman year stated that making a good income was an important reason for their decision to go to college."

option A can be eliminated by the word superficial.Moreover aiming for a good income doesn't necessarily mean they have financial worries.
C-This doesn't support the conclusion. Education background seems out of scope.
D-Students Revising their reasons contradicts the conclusions/weakens
E-The conclusion doesn't depend on the graduates being less conservative.

Option B is the answer because as the passage says majority of members in 1982 class joined college to improve their financial income so to strengthen this the class of 64 must have lesser members who worked on this same motive.

One additional maybe stronger reason for eliminating C could be the use of word "Educational Background" a much better word is "College degree". Educational background also includes high school diploma, which could important in 1964 as well.
