Preparation for the first round of admissions for the Fall'23 term

Greetings,
I had one question: if one is targeting Fall 2023 for the MS admissions, then what should be the time in 2022 when the individual should be ready with the GRE test scores, LORs, SOPs, and everything. I have heard that round 1 of admissions would begin by Oct'22, one should be ready by September'2022. Is that the proper timeline that should be followed for a smooth application process without any hassle?
Secondly, what are the disadvantages one entails while applying in the second round of admissions which begins in January every year for the following fall term?

For the first one the timeline is correct
For the second one, the second round is more selective, usually.

So for the R1 application, you should be done with your GRE latest by June/mid-july(preferably) so that the next 2 months you have more time to focus on applications only. And believe me, applications do take time. It needs a lot of work from our end especially if you are targetting top colleges. There are a number of components of an application that you will need to work on. So it's safe to have the last two months assigned for this.
And R1 v/s R2, I believe they are the same. If it's R3 then it is assumed that less no of seats will be there. So there won't be a major difference. That being said, I would always suggest applying whenever you feel that your application is strong enough.
