A. Professor Wigmore never suggests that true literary works can't be detrimental to society. The fundamental claim that Wigmore makes is that a set of materials should be covered if they are true literary works or if they have a negative effect on society. In other words, even if something isn't a true work of literature, it should still be studied if it is very impactful. Essentially, nothing depends on this per se.
B. This is tangential. Wigmore never discourages teaching true literary works.
C. It is never suggested that the skills students acquire are only limited to critical analysis.
D. Specifically visual advertisements were never mentioned.
E. If the literature department's responsibility is not limited to teaching true works but extends to categories beyond that of true literature, it means that the department would have justification for teaching analysis of advertisements and things of the like. This is the right answer.
