In Q1, why is C correct? The main point of the passage is to (A) assert the superiority of ready-made art (B) decry the broadening of the definition of art (C) discuss a work in context and its effect on the discipline (D) explain the relationship between two works of art (E) praise an artist and his creations
What confuses me is "discuss a work in context" - while the author does discuss the work (alternate diagonals) and its effect on the discipline, I felt that "in context" was unnecessary verbiage and eliminated the answer choice.
Can anybody help me regarding this? Thanks in advance.
q3?...why option e is wrong? and why option a is correct?
The passage teems with positive words—“visually arresting,” “vivacity,” “intriguing,” to name just a few—and this indicates the author is biased in favor of the works. Thus, the neutral aspect of choices (C), (D), and (E) is incorrect. As for choice (B), “fawning” has a negative connotation. Source: MGRE answer key
