Nations should pass laws to preserve any remaining wilderness areas in their natural state, even if these areas could be developed for economic gain.
Write a response in which you discuss your views on the policy and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, you should consider the possible consequences of implementing the policy and explain how these consequences shape your position.
Every country needs twenty five percent of forest to preserve it’s wild life but economy is a crucial for any country and to preserve it’s wild life country should develop its economy.
If we look at developed countries, they have successfully preserved their wild life and forest with the help of economy. Most of the European counties than African countries are far more successful to reserve their wild animals, forest and jungles. This was possible because of their solid economy. African countries are much poorer than European counties because of that they are failing to preserve their wilderness.
For example, Australia successfully flourish their wilderness as its economy developed, Their national animal kangaroo number is increasing day by without compromising to their economic developed. China’s national animal panda was on the verge of extinction, But, as China developed itself and become the number two country of economically developed country in the world. They have taken policy to increase the number of pandas. They are so fruitful that panda is now out of extinction zone.
As developed countries people are much prone to be law abided people. But developing or poor countries population are not so much law abided. Because they see law as an oppression from the government. So, passing law to preserve remaining wilderness area in their natural state may be effective for economically triumphant countries but not for developing world. For example, look at Bangladesh their national animal is Bengal tiger and they have passed law to preserve this animal. Killing and selling Bengal tiger is punishable in law but still number of tigers are shrinking.
From this discussion it is clear that without economic development preserving wilderness is not possible. If people are poor and can’t even afford their daily life how can they think about wild life and forest. Only economic development can uphold remaining wilderness. It is the economy which can bring stability of a country and then people can think about their forest and wild animals.
