Need an explanation for the third blank. Initially, I thought the answer was supposed to be CAN BE EXTRAPOLATED. Since already YET contradicts previously and once again a contraction of BUT has been used. So, I thought this was something appealingly positive sense.

We understand from studies but when new features emerge we cannot yet understand from the old studies.
