Re: Smiths yearly remuneration is $20,000 more than Jacks yearly remuner [#permalink]

Let Smith's yearly remuneration be $39,999. Jack's yearly remuneration will be $19,000. This satisfies the condition that Smith’s yearly remuneration is $20,000 more than Jack’s yearly remuneration, but is less than $40,000.

Quantity A = $39,999

Quantity B = 2 * $19,999 = $39,998

Quantity A is the greatest.
