Why can't we write ludicrous?

I mean, why we cannot interpret the sentences as first neg and then pos?

because the word means ridiculous. I do not think is the meaning of the sentence

The sentence says: certain inventions are so so and we can even not have them. They are not necessary.

BUT others are outstanding and critical for our advance

Should not it be B because there is a BUT in there which suggests a contrast and world beaters is on the extreme positive side, so if we go by the rules we end up at ludicrous which is extreme negative.

Aside from the fact that the grammatical constriction of the sentence is unclear.

The pronoun its at the very beginning should refer to the valley that should be the subject. Which is placed at the end of the sentence

Only For this, well far from a GRE sentence, I would be suspicious about the genuinity of the questions

Shows that those inventions are possible by because of latter mentioned inventions

Can you explain on this?
