Stella has some coins. She can bundle the coins equally into 6 bags and no leftovers. She can also pack the coins equally into 4 bags and no leftovers. However, when she bundles them into 7 bags, she has one coin left over. What is the least number of coins Stella could have ??

Takes 10-15 seconds to answer this one. You too can do this.
This means that the number of coins she has is a multiple of 6.
Again, the number of coins is a multiple of 4 and 6. Least number of coins must be LCM of 4, and 6.
The number of coins when divided by 7 leaves remainder 1, and is multiple of both 4, and 6.
Look for the answer choice. Don't necessarily have to solve this.
B and C cannot be the answer as 25 and 29 are not multiples of 6 and 4.
A, D, and E give us multiples of 6 and 4 but only one D give us a multiple which also leaves 1 as a remainder when divided by 7.
Hence, D is the correct answer.

She can bundle the coins equally into 6 bags and no leftovers => Coins are a multiple of 6
She can also pack the coins equally into 4 bags and no leftovers => Coins are a multiple of 4 too
=> Coins are multiple of 4 and 6 = Multiple of LCM(4,6) = Multiple of 12
Only choices left are A, D, E
when she bundles them into 7 bags, she has one coin left over => When divided by 7 gives a remainder of 1
Out of 12, 36 and 48. Only 36 gives remainder of 1 when divided by 7
So, Answer will be D
