We are given that T-shirts can be purchased in a pack of 10 at $2.50 each pack, in a
pack of 5 at $1.50 each pack or $0.30 individually per T-shirt.
We have to compare;
Quantity A - Maximum number of T-shirt that could be purchased for $14.5 and
Quantity B - 56
Let us find price of each t-shirt in a pack of 10 =2.5/10=0.25
The price of each t-shirt in a pack of 5 =1.5/5=0.3
The price of individual t-shirt = 0.5
So, cheapest is when bought in pack of 10.
Now, to find the maximum number of t-shirts, let us buy them in the pack of 10.
With $14.5 (2.5 × 5 = 12.5), we can buy a maximum of 5 packs of 10 t-shirts.
That means we can buy 5 × 10 = 50 t-shirts.
The amount left = $14.5 - $12.5 = $ 2
With $2, we can buy a pack of 5 T-shirts at $1.50
Now, the number of t-shirts bought = 50 + 5 = 55
So, the amount left = $2 - $1.50 = $ 0.50
And with $ 0.50, we can buy an individual T-shirt.
So, the maximum number of T-shirts that could be purchased for $14.5 is 50 + 5 + 1 =
56.
Hence both the quantities are equal.

We can check how much it cost to buy 56 t-shirts by breaking it down.
We can break down as follows (5*10)+(1*5)+1. This breakdown is the highest number of t-shirts with the least price. Since the pack of 10 has the lowest individual price (calculated), followed by the pack of 5 than the single tshirt.
We can now calculate the price: 5*2.5 = 12.5, 1*1.5 = 1.5 and 0.5, the sum of which is 14.5. Therefore the answer is both the values are equal.
