The cost of a call lasting x minutes charged by company A: 3 + 0.50 (x-1)
The cost of a call lasting x minutes charged by company B: 2 + 0.70 (x-1)
"The cost of a call lasting x minutes is $ 15.00 more with telephone company B than with telephone company A" means that we can write:
2 + 0.70 (x-1) - [3 + 0.50 (x-1)] = 15
2 + 0.70x - 0.70 - 3 - 0.50x + 0.50 = 15
0.20x = 16.20
x = 81
