Let a, b, c and d be the 4 numbers.
If the average of the numbers is 36 we can write: \(\frac{a+b+c+d}{4}=36\)
Multiply both sides of the equation by 4 to get: \(a+b+c+d = 144\)
So we have:
QUANTITY A: 144
QUANTITY B: 140
Answer: A
