Our calculations are as follows:
Quantity A: Geometric mean of 4 and 8 \(=\sqrt{(4)(8)}=\sqrt{32}\)
Quantity B: Average of 4 and 8 \(=\frac{4+8}{2}=\frac{12}{2}=6\)
Since \(\sqrt{36}=6\), we can be certain that \(\sqrt{32}<6\)
Answer: B
