This is a tough question. However, later on, I will tell you WHY is not a good question and WHy you should not practice that much with any sort of material BUT the Offical Questions. Especially in the last stage of your preparation.

Now, the year of our concern is 1995

Now suppose that in 1995 the total tuitions are 25,000 in private and around 6,000 in public.

The stem says that 50% of the public of 6,000 as total went public which is 3,000.

85% went to private which of are \(25,000*0.85 \approx 21\)

At this point, to calculate the total dollar value, we need to find the number of students.

The public sector encompassed of 4,000 and 1/2 and 1/3 of these are between 1,000 and 1,333. Private are 2,666 and 3,000.

Now we do need the range.

The upper end is where the private is the highest and the public is the lowest

\(3,000 private \times 21,000 students + 1,000 public students \times 3,000 \approx 65 millions\)

The lowest end is

\(2,666 private \times 21,000 + 1,333 public \times 3,000 \approx 59 millions\)

Only answer D falls short between 65 and 59.

This is a very time-consuming question. Moreover, EVERY official question even the toughest has a sort of short cut or pattern to get the answer.

Stay away from such material. Especially by Princeton

How did you know that the Private University costs in '95 was 25,000. I thought it was 25,000 - 6,000 because of the way the graph is oriented. Is that my mistake in understanding the graph. In other words, is the total tuition per year, the summation of the two colors denoting Private and Public?

The grey of the bar chart is roughly 25,000

The black is roughly 6000

It is the bar chart

25,000 - 6,000 is wrong
