Question for Blank 3. Why not G "compelling"? Reevaluate his approach for doing sth. For me, here "for doing sth" indicated the initial intention to prove but does not accord with reality. What really took place in the sentence is the discrepancy that led the prosecutor to reevaluate his initial compelling case. Please do tell me whether I have made a mistake in the analysis. Thanks

If you read the sentence as a whole, we know that the judge intended to use extreme judgment in the case.

However, we have discrepancies between our proof and what the witnesses tell us. In conclusion, the prosecutor thought was better to evaluate once again the case and take a more soft way in the case than previously he thought.

As such, he went lightly, and tenuous is the correct word for the third blank. Saying that the case is compelling or interesting is not correct
