Re: The Portuguese began to enter Angola in the 16 th century, [#permalink]
Quesiton #1 is a bad question.
Both A and C are not stated in the passage.

A)"Already, the country that once mined Angola for slaves and raw material..." - just because you mined Angola for slaves, doesn't mean Portugal traders sold Angolan slaves. Slave miners could have mined all the slaves for themselves. Inferring that it leads to slave trade is out of the passage.

C) " over the next three hundred years slowly pushed into the interior of the sizable nation located in Southern Africa, finally achieving complete occupation by the 1920s." - the text never mentioned that they were at war with each other. But let's be real. Which country would willingly let another country to push into the interior of heir nation and lead a foreign country to completely occupy without a fight? Most likely there was some resistance / fights from Angola. But it is not stated in the passage, so we cannot assume.

Both A and C are reasonable answers here.

You are thinking and assuming way to far.

Inference questions are fairly simple: stated or not due to an, essentially, paraphrasing

"Mined Angola for slaves" directly implies that Portuguese traders were involved in taking and selling Angolan people as slaves.

I hope this helps
