The table shown lists the distribution of a certain number of humanities students by major. If there are a total of 1,500 students, which of the following majors have fewer than 225 students?
Indicate all such majors.
(A) Liberal Studies
(B) English
(C) Art
(D) Anthropology
(E) Sociology

In order to solve this problem, it is best to figure out what percentage 225 is of 1,500 .
We can figure this out by setting up the following equation:
$$
\(\frac{225 \text { students }}{1,500 \text { students }}=0.15=15\) %
$$
However, we want fewer than 225 students, or less than $\(15\) %$. Thus; Art is not valid because it has exactly 225 students, not fewer. Only Anthropology and Sociology have fewer than 225 students.
This means (D) and (E) are our correct answers.
