We know that equation of a line having slope ' $\(m\)$ ' and $\(y\)$-intercept ' $\(c\)$ ' is $\(y=m x+c\)$
Using the above equation, the equation of line having slope -1 would be $\(y=-x+c\)$
Next as above line passes through $\((1,2)\)$, we get $\(2=-1 \times 1+c \Rightarrow c=2+1=3\)$, so the equation comes out to be $\(y=-x+3\)$
Finally the $\(x\)$-intercept of the line is $\(0=-x+3 \Rightarrow x=3\)$ (Note: $\(-x\)$ - intercept of a line is the value of $\(x\)$ when $\(y\)$ is 0 )
Hence the answer (E)
