Let the total volume of the tank = T
If Pump Z emptied one-third of the tank, then pumps A & B must have emptied two-thirds of the tank (as the total number of pumps is 3). Considering this, it can be deduced that:
2/3 of T = 550 (that pump A emptied) + 1250 (that Pump B emptied) = 1800
Hence, T = 2700
As pump Z emptied one-third of the total, therefore, it must have emptied 1/3 * 2700 = 900
