For the 2nd blank, read the sentence before the blank. It asks a question. "If " makes more sense because later the sentence says that backward time travel is feasible. Hence, Moreover and Nonetheless are out.
For the 3rd blank, "you own steps" is the clue. Retracing your own steps is logical with backward time travel. commiserating and leaving are out.
