The attempt of the college student to her was brazen and misguided so the first blank should be something negative. The only negative word for the first blank is flippant which means irresponsible, the other options respectful and flamboyant are ruled out as they both indicate something positive, dutiful, and confident, respectively.
The college student made this attempt to collect something positive from her peers. Aplomb is a positive word but it does not fit for the second blank as it can not be gained from others as the word means self-confidence. Derison is a negative word and does not fit for the second blank as she didn't want to gain mockery from her peers. Esteem is a positive word and fits with the second blank as it indicates that she wanted to gather respect from her peers.
She was banished from the class for her fault. So the third blank should be something negative. The only negative option for the third blank is insolence which means rudeness and it fits with the context. The other two options are positive words, hilarity means laughter and taciturnity means reserve which does not fit with the context.
