1) The option A is discussed in the first line of the paragraph and also supported by other sentences. It is mentioned that habitat loss is the single greatest identifiable factor line contributing to amphibian declines. This is also evaluated in the paragraph.

Option B is incorrect, it is mentioned in the passage that outright habitat loss causes greatest effect on the amphibian population, this is exactly the opposite meaning.

Option C is correct, it is discussed near to the end of the passage as a result of environmental contamination. It is mentioned that introduction of exotic invasive species were proved detrimental.

2) If you look at the passage as a whole, no authorities were cited. So option B is correct answer.

For Answer 2 - I believe Option C is also possible because i dont see any word in the Paragraph that points to the Author Stating a Probability. Most of them are notions "often this and that happens"-but cannot be considered a probability being stated. Any clarification on this? :)

The author mentions the probability in this line "Outright habitat loss probably has the greatest effect on amphibians"

But wouldn't you agree that "probably" as a probability is as vague as "a recent assessment" is as an authority?

My apologies for not clarifying! I was referring to question 2. As the correct answer stands, the author states a probability on the merit of the word "probably," but they do not cite an authority. This is confusing to me because if "probably" justifies a probability, shouldn't "a study" justify some authority? They seem equally vague.

A recent assessment of the status of global amphibian populations identified habitat loss as the single greatest identifiable factor contributing to amphibian declines.

Which means the answer is B

Do not less foolish yourself. State a probability is completely out of scope. In the passage, there is nothing about probability of an event to happen.

I hope now is more clear to you
