1. Each of the following can be inferred from the information in the passage EXCEPT:

(A) India has faced various foreign invasions in the past. - Mentioned in the passage. The Greeks, the Huns, the Scythian, the Pathans, and the Mughals, who occupied the land.

(B) Philosophy was held in high regard in older civilizations. - Mentioned. Philosophy was regarded as the goal of all the highest practical and theoretical activities

(C) There has been complacency in Indian philosophical thought. - Para 1. It is essentially one of spiritual aspirations and obedience to the law of the spirit, which were regarded as superior to everything else, and it has outlived all the political changes through which India passed. - Not sure for this but you will get the reasoning for my correct answer.

(D) Unity of India was affected due to its vast geographical area. - This is totally opposite of mentioned. It indicated the point of unity amidst all the apparent diversities which the complex growth of culture over a vast area inhabited by different peoples produced. It was not affected. Correct.

(E) Political invasion has not had any impact on India’s spiritual integrity. - Last para. The Greeks, the Huns, the Scythians, the Pathans, and the Mughals, who occupied the land and controlled the political machinery, never ruled the minds of the people. These political events were like hurricanes or the changes of season, mere phenomena of a natural or physical order which never affected the spiritual integrity of Hindu culture.

2. The author predicts that India:

Consider this from the last passage :
Quote:
These political events were like hurricanes or the changes of season, mere phenomena of a natural or physical order which never affected the spiritual integrity of Hindu culture. If, after a passivity of some centuries, India is again going to become creative, it is mainly on account of this fundamental unity of her progress and civilization and not for anything that she may borrow from other countries.

The philosophy was an achievement and the foreign invasions never affected spiritual integrity. It was intact. Now for some centuries India is in passive state but if it becomes creative... - the author means that if it contributes to the spirituality again.

Choice B - focus on the word resurface. Philosophy is an achievement for India and it has remained constant so there is no case for resurfacing.

Answer D

3. What is the primary purpose of the author in writing the passage?

(A) To compare Indian philosophy with that of other civilizations. - No other civilizations are compared.

(B) To analyse the connection between Indian civilization and philosophy. - Correct. All the talks about India's developments, invasions by foreign rulers, diff political events and their connection with the constancy in philosophy.

(C) To trace the impact of political invasions on Indian philosophy. - There was no impact on Indian Philosophy. It was constant

(D) To discuss the points of unity in India. - Only one point - Philosophy - is discussed.

(E) To discuss the rise of spiritual aspirations in India. - Irrelevant to the passage. Only in last para some related to this is mentioned.

4. From the passage, which of the following cannot be concluded about Indian philosophy?

The key trick here is that, basically, the question is an EXCEPT question in disguise. We need to find what is NOT specifically mention in the passage

(A) It has a goal of bringing together different people.

True . Pepole minds unified was the key not political acts or else

(B) It brought together practical and theoretical activities.

Yes

It was regarded as the goal of all the highest practical and theoretical activities, and it indicated the point of unity amidst all the apparent diversities

(C) It was immune to political upheavals.

Yes. These political events were like hurricanes or the changes of season, mere phenomena of a natural or physical order which never affected the spiritual integrity of Hindu culture.

(D) Spirituality is an important part of it.

It is essentially one of spiritual aspirations and obedience to the law of the spirit,

(E) It is not subjugated by time.

Never mention the time, century, years, second....or other wrist watches:lol:

E is the answer
