Instigated primarily by the Irish Republican Brotherhood, the Easter Rising of 1916 was a landmark event in the battle against English rule.

This is a fact. it gives us the context about what we are going to talk about.

Armed members of the Brotherhood, in concert with the Irish Volunteers, seized control of several government buildings in the capital city of Dublin and issued the Easter Proclamation, a proclamation of Irish independence. However, the rebels were outnumbered by British forces, which had greater access to weapons and ammunition.

Another fact which is part of the story. It simply tells us how the story went. A commentary.

The siege ended with the unconditional surrender of the militant forces, and sixteen of their leaders were subsequently executed for their roles in the uprising.

Another fact. At the moment we are not able to say anything about this first bold part and the role it has.

Those who survived, however, went on with renewed fervor to lobby for Ireland’s independence, and the public nature of the uprising changed popular sentiment about British rule.

here we do have a shift. Notice the word However. This word announces two things: or an imminent conclusion or another line of theory. Either way, something is coming

While the Easter Rising was a failure by military and tactical standards, it is viewed as an important milestone in the 1919 establishment of the Republic of Ireland.

Notice the underlined portion: something X happened BUT from this, another something Y is born. Notice also that the underlined portion is the end of the story. In context, it is really the conclusion.

Now, of the answer choices only C and E have as second portion role the conclusion. However, E says that the first bold part is an outside potion. This is false. The first bold part is a fact that support the entire story we do have. And if it supports the entire story, then it also supports the conclusion of the story. So E is out and C is the answer.

Please Sir, refer to my explanation above

However, B is incorrect because the second bold portion is not an objection to the conclusion.

it is the conclusion itself.

Not easy at glance.

A lot depends on the dichotomy of the entire argument as a whole

Look at this for instance

Quote:
The stock market has shorted HP stock in response to HP CEO Leo Apotheker’s decision to divest the tablet business to invest to achieve good positions in great industries. Such myopic behavior indicates that the stock market is focused at short term results even when they come at the expense of long term benefits. While HP could have made some money in the tablet market in the short term, it has no strategic advantage in the tablet space and refocusing and investing the management focus on industries where HP does have a strategic advantage will provide enduring profits in the long term.

the first bold is the main conclusion and the second one is the intermediate conclusion as support of the main conclusion.

You do not have a real clue. Sometimes you can use POE, sometimes you spot it thanks to the unfolding of the sentence.............

There is not a cut-off strategy.
