Guillemots are birds of Arctic regions. They feed on fish that gather beneath thin sheets of floating ice, and they nest on nearby land. Guillemots need 80 consecutive snow-free days in a year to raise their chicks, so until average temperatures in the Arctic began to rise recently, the guillemots’ range was limited to the southernmost Arctic coast. Therefore, if the warming continues, the guillemots’ range will probably be enlarged by being extended northward along the coast.

Lets analyze the answer choices and see which one stands scrutiny. To find the choice which weakens the argument, we need to select the choice that provides evidence that the birds' range will not be extended.

(A): The keyword here is 'still'. If there are years now when the chicks are being killed by early snow, has it wiped out the birds? No. Therefore if conditions are favorable it cannot act as an impediment to their range expansion. Incorrect.
(B): Guillemots have been co-existing with their predators where they currently live. If the predators migrate northwards, why will this stop the birds from doing so too? Incorrect.
(C): If temperatures are rising then they will be higher than they are now in inland areas too, possibly allowing the birds to live there. Incorrect.
(D): CORRECT. If the ice in the southern arctic disappears, the birds will be forced to move northwards. However, their RANGE will not be extended as they will just shift from a more southern to a more northern point. There is no evidence that says that they will live over longer stretches of land.
(E): This means there will be more fish for the birds to eat in the North. This supports the conclusion that they will move north and extend their range.

I’ll begin by predicting the nature of a few statements.
(A) Even if the warming trend continues, there will still be years in which guillemot chicks are killed by unusually early snow.
There is absolutely no doubt in this statement being wrong that there is no strict prediction for the accuracy of the weather remaining the same even if the trend continues awkwardly. This also means that if the weather is going in favor of the bird for some time now, then there is a possibility that it can go the other way around too.
(B) If the Arctic warming continues, guillemots’ current predators are likely to succeed in extending their range farther north.
There is this possibility as well when you consider the animals. Or any other species. If you think of the positive news, it can be more for the other counterpart likewise. If there are strict measures the bird has to take regarding the raising of the chicks, it also means that there is less it can do to tackle the predators. And if the predators do consider the other option of living, it will be of good use for them.
(C) Guillemots nest in coastal areas, where temperatures are generally higher than in inland areas.
I am not sure if this statement is true because there is no option or clear indication of this option to be true. There is no statement from the content that there is any mention of the temperature being low or high in the nearby land. There can only be predictions for this option, but I cannot be of utmost assurance considering this option.
(D) If the Arctic warming continues, much of the thin ice in the southern Arctic will disappear.
If there is one statement that feels close to reality, then it has to be this one since there is the assurance of the highest order in this regard. It has nothing to do with reading the content and then looking for some prediction. Hence, this statement is more than 100 percent.

I am not sure if there is any question that predicts the answers in the best possible state that we do not feel the requirement to perform lengthy calculations and thus look for an opinion and solution. I do not consider this question a tougher one considering that some of the questions here do not remain straightforward or even the correct option. Hence, I will begin forward by examining the question, so you find it easy, and then you will come to a conclusion with ease. First, I will start by announcing the breakdown of the entire equation, so you will find it easy to perform simple concepts such as those of the middle term breaking yourself.
At first, we have the equation of 4x-3y=8, whereas the second equation is -2x+5y=10. The two equations are of the quadratic equation, and thus there will be solving of these equations in the form of a simultaneous way, and therefore you will need to place them simultaneously and then begin with the solving process. It is easier to understand that the two equations can quickly proceed when the equations are added without any multiplication and subtraction. In essence, you need to add them easily. And the resulting equation comes out as:
2x+2y=18
Now it gives a more precise and straightforward prediction of the resulting equation. All you need to do next is that you need to bring commonly the ‘2’ from the left side of the equation and then divide the term under 18 on the right side. It means further that the total equation reduces to:
x+y=9
Now, let us consider the two options that are available to us. At one option, the answer is x+y, and the next option is 9. Thus, it is evident from above that both options are correct, and therefore you will need to select the answer that says that both of them are equal.
