Re: An oil field prospector and developer reported a large oil d [#permalink]

We are told that BECAUSE the deposit was smaller, the methods that the prospector had used to determine the size of the oil deposit must have been inaccurate.

A- MORE accurate doesn't mean prospector's method wasn't. Not an assumption.
B- Correct because when negated, we know that the prospector did fabricate the finding and so the argument will fall. Hence as assumption.
C- Commercial viability is out of scope of the argument.
D- No impact statement since exploring other fields is irrelevant.
E- Also an irrelvant statement.

Conclusion : methods used by prospector had used to determine the size of the oil deposit must have been inaccurate.
Assumption : there is no other reason way except inaccurate method. Flaw : What if this was done intentionally?

Answer Choice B is exactly in line with this though process.
