Re: The new herbal supplement, [#permalink]
Learnt a new word today! :)

For those of you who, like me, didn't know the meaning:
etiolated (adj.) - having lost vigour or substance; feeble.

I am still not sure if 'pithed' can be used like this...

The new herbal supplement, which purported to boost energy in individuals living a sedentary lifestyle, was pulled from health food store shelves because it was found to have the opposite effect; it, in fact,__________ many of its users.

Basically the sentence says: the supplement WEAKEN the user instead to BOOST his/her immune system or something like that

venerated: respect a person: wrong

enervated: weaken ----> correct

invigorated: boost--> wrong

etiolated: weaken ---> correct

exhilarated: boost ----> wrong

pitched: boost ---> wrong

Hope this helps
