Claim: Even though young people often receive the advice to “follow your dreams,” more emphasis should be placed on picking worthy goals.
Reason: Many people’s dreams are inherently selfish.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim AND the reason on which that claim is based.

According to the issue, the dreams of the young people should be worthy one and not one which is driven by selfish motives.I would like to disagree with the statement here.
Everyone in this world dreams of achieving some or the other goal in life. This goal is one the most important reasons we live to strive in this world. But most of the times this goal is driven by selfish motives which is absolutely fine if there is illegal action involved in the pursuit of this dream. Sometimes you have to focus a little more on yourself and not think about others if you want to reach that stage where you are satisfied with your work you have done in your life.Take the example of one of the greatest football players,Cristiano Ronaldo. He led a very impoverished life as a child. His mother could barely afford buy a meal a day and would sacrifice it for Ronaldo's training. This motivated Cristiano to work hard and be the player that he is.He would not not have worked hard if he did not have the goal to become one of the greatest football players to have ever graced the pitch.Often accused as being slightly selfish and not a team player he has been very professional in life and has worked hard on himself to be where he is at today winning so many individual accolades to put him among the greatest football players like Messi,Ronadiho etc.
What do you define as a worthy goal? This opinion depends purely upon the individual. If someone has had a childhood where he/she would not have been able to afford even the basic necessities in life,his/her motive in life would be to work so hard in life so that they never have to think about this problem ever again in their life.Do you call them Selfish?Absolutely not, because they want to be successful in life and they are will to work hard for it and this motive classifies as being a worthy goal because they have seen the hardships of life and are willing to struggle in order to thrive in this world.Does it always have to be about serving the society and about the greater good of the world? Not always. One can contribute to the society but then one has to be in a position to do so.You cannot expect a young person from a lower class household to be contribute to the education of poor people because he himself does not has the means to fund his own education. On the other hand there is Mark Zuckerberg the founder of Facebook who had a dream to connect everyone in this world through the power of internet. He had a goal which was not driven by selfish motives and was for the greater good of the society.
It is true that we all have to contribute to society but there is no way to quantify it as worthy goal because every person lives a different kind of lives and they have to be encouraged to follow their dreams in order to fulfill the goals classified as being worthy.
