ISSUE TASK
Q -- Every individual in a society has a responsibility to obey just laws and to disobey and resist unjust laws.
A – Laws in today’s time act like a backbone for a society , they help to maintain and regulate the acts and the actions of the individuals living in the society. Humans from the ancient times till date are governed using laws whether they were justified either by practicality or religious point of view.
One would argue as to whether a person should follow unjust laws which instead of bringing betterment to the society , does the opposite of it and bring nuisance instead of peace. On reviewing the laws and rules followed in some parts of the world in our past , we can get a sure idea as to what consequences one faces when they oblige to follow completely abysmal laws. For example :- If India would have rebelled against the unjust laws imposed by the British such as giving high taxes for imports and exports and agriculture at the start of the ruling stage before the independence , we would never have been under the dictatorship and remained as a free and independent country. This clearly justifies as to why it is a moral duty for every individual living in a democratic country to stand and rebel against the laws that are not in favour of the welfare for citizens.
However , it is a moral duty for us citizens to use our intellectual ability and make clear decisions as to which laws are good and which our bad. Often these convoluted decisions lead to arguments among different people living in the same society. It is the responsibility of the government too to make sure that the laws are impartial and serve for the betterment of all parts of the society.
For example , laws which may effect poor and benefit the rich are clearly unjustified whereas laws or treaties which bring demonization in country which is diluted in corruption might be an effective and a justified one.
Thus , it is our ethical and pragmatic thinking that let us decide upon the validity of laws and rules in a society and there is no well proofed method to distinguish it.
As a moral citizen of this world, the development undertaken in this world lies in our hands and decision for subsequent laws taken to direct that must be bestowed ourselves.
