There are no clues in the sentence that something is old.

Actually, the meaning of the sentence is this: we say that the exposition to benign products, after all, is not so benign but indeed harmful for people.

i was confused between banal and benign since it had word "routine exposure" can you please help me to clear the doubt

Think this way: in most part, the consumer movement relies on the assumption that the products are benign in appearance but actually they are harmful

The other options, based on this meaning of the sentence, are misleading and out of scope.

The word "seemingly" suggests that the products "are believed to be".

and routine exposure to products that are believed to be something can actually have deleterious long term consequences.

the word actually stresses on the reality (deleterious consequences), which is the exact opposite of the belief (suggested by the word seemingly)

If reality is "deleterious consequences", the belief should be the exact opposite, benign.
