No worries evileyelive.

The most important thing is the will to learn and improve. I also strongly recommend you to read the use of the timer. https://gre.myprepclub.com/forum/how-to-po ... tml#p32033

Back to the question.

Some people argue that the increased gap between rich and poor is caused (i)_____, which tends to favor those who are already wealthy

Tends clearly refers to the gap , which is increasing over time. From this is logic to infer that is not the middle class that acts to increase the gap but is a phenomenon. Only B could explain this action. So for the first blank is B the answer. Turns out, this makes the world divided into two main groups , so the answer is truncate which means just divide.

Polarized is exactly the contrary. Polarize means something the concentrate rather than divide.

Hope now is more clear to you.

Hi, I have read your explanation.

You told to use Truncate- Truncate means to shorten in length or something

while Polarize means divide or cause to divide into two sharply contrasting groups or sets of opinions or beliefs.

How can you say that Truncate means divide and Polarize means concentrate?

Honestly, I do not know from which words you have inferred what you wrote but is not what I said.

The world, actually, is truncated in two main clusters and the reason, mainly, is the globalization.

Polarized means to concentrate. Here we do have a division between two poles.

Hope this helps

I agree with globalization. But polarized actually means to be divided in two groups.
I think the answer is B and E.

Ambiguous questions. Both words could fit as well.

And there is a clear clue to choose between in a clear cut

B and E. I have edited the OA's

which tends cannot refers to "degree". Not a good question.

I do not know why on this board we do have millions of good quality questions and overall the students focus always on the ambiguous/bad ones
