I think enmity and affront come very close. Both words support passing on. Can someone explain why enmity is incorrect here?

First of all this is not a usual GRE question. I have doubts on it.
I do not think you will see a question like this during the exam
That say, here the problem is not the support or less of passing on but the meaning as a whole
I should be promoted and not him. So this event is like an insult in my regards.
I should be in his shoes
