If the subject is giving up a higher salary because there's better perks (blank 1) at the current job, wouldn't that "persuade her to" negotiate (blank 2) for better pay?

Hello Sir!

Anne traded higher salary with the perks and thus, due to the perks she settled for a lesser salary.

Also, you can read the sentence like this:
Anne could have made a larger salary elsewhere, but
Now,after but we know the sentence will have an opposite tone
So, Anne could have made a larger salary elsewhere, but she settled for the lesser salary due to the better perks available.
