QUANTITY A: The average of five consecutive integers starting from m
So, the 5 numbers are: m, m+1, m+2, m+3 and m+4
Average = (m + m+1 + m+2 + m+3 + m+4)/5
= (5m + 10)/5
= m + 2
QUANTITY B: The average of six consecutive integers starting from m
So, the 6 numbers are: m, m+1, m+2, m+3, m+4 and m+5
Average = (m + m+1 + m+2 + m+3 + m+4 + m+6)/6
= (6m + 15)/6
= m + 2.5
We have:
QUANTITY A: m + 2
QUANTITY B: m + 2.5
Subtract m from both quantities to get:
QUANTITY A: 2
QUANTITY B: 2.5
Answer: B
