We can solve this question using matching operations (my favorite Quantitative Comparison strategy)
Given:
Quantity A: \(18-\frac{4}{5}+\frac{1}{2}\)
Quantity B: \(18-\frac{1}{2}+\frac{4}{5} \)
Subtract 18 from both quantities:
Quantity A: \(-\frac{4}{5}+\frac{1}{2}\)
Quantity B: \(-\frac{1}{2}+\frac{4}{5} \)
Add \(\frac{4}{5}\) to both quantities:
Quantity A: \(\frac{1}{2}\)
Quantity B: \(-\frac{1}{2}+\frac{8}{5} \)
Add \(\frac{1}{2}\) to both quantities:
Quantity A: \(\frac{2}{2}=1\)
Quantity B: \(\frac{8}{5} \)
Answer: B
