You have to divide by the total time. 140/3 = 49.

The formula for average speed is total distance divided by total time (NOT taking the average of the two speeds!). We can use the formula s = d/t to find that the distances are 80 and 60. Average speed = (80+60)/3 = 46.667 mph. Therefore Quantity A > Quantity B.
