hi R24350 , shouldn't it be : a + b = 3 ( a*b ) for a number ab
sum of the digits = 3 times the product of the digits ?

Hi chanandelerbong if we put the equation as a+b=3ab , we would see this equation would not stand valid , as LHS will never be equal to RHS for any set of integers except when a and b are both 0.
Similarly if we try the alternative way to solve , if we consider 10a+b=a+b as eqn1 and 10a+b=3ab as eqn2
Now if we solve the eqn1 we get 9a=0 and a = 0 and if we put the a=0 in equation 2 we get b=0, and thus we realize that the equation we are trying to form is not correct and the question stem is effectively asking that the 2digit number = sum of the digits and/+ 3*product of the digits

Carcass please correct me in case the explanation or understanding is incorrect.
