Quantity B says "The MINIMUM number of miles the captain must sail to return to his original position"
If the correct answer were D, then that would mean that there are 2 DIFFERENT minimum values (one minimum value that is greater than 1350 and one minimum value that is less than 1350).
Obviously that makes no sense. What is the source of this question?

Aside: If we take into consideration that the ship is sailing on a spherical globe (Earth) and not a 2-dimensional plane, then it's actually possible that Quantity B = 500.
This will occur if the ship is at a location where traveling 1,200 miles due east (on a certain line of latitude) will bring it back to the exact same line of longitude where it started the easterly leg of its trip.
