Each small cube is of 2 inches on edges.

Qty A
The container is 1 foot long on either edges.
1 foot = 12 inches

\(12*12*12\) = volume of the container
\(2*2*2\) = volume of cube

\(\frac{12*12*12}{2*2*2}\) = \(∛6*6*6\) = 6 = number of cubes that can be fit in the container

Qty B
The container is 2 feet by 1 feet by 6 inches
In other words volume of the container = \(24*12*6\)
The volume of cube = \(2*2*2\)
The number of cubes that can be fit in the container is given by,
\(\frac{24*12*6}{2*2*2}\) = \(∛6*6*6\) = 6
