We have the lower limit and upper limit for the number of persons who can turn up for the
gathering and those for the expense.
We have to calculate the ratio of expense to number of persons.
Since the range of number of persons and that of expense are given, we must find out
the greatest value and the smallest value of the ratio and then compare them with Quantity B.
The greatest value of the ratio of expense per person
=Maximum expense/Minimum number of persons =75, 000/100, 000 = $0.75
= 0.75 > .60
=> Quantity A is greater than Quantity B
The smallest value of the ratio of expense per person = Minimum expense/Greatest number of persons =50, 000/120, 000 = $0.417
= 0.417 < 0.60
=> Quantity B is greater than Quantity A
D is the answer
