Re: The functions f and g are defined as f(x, y) = 2x + y and g( [#permalink]

Given that f(x, y) = 2x + y and g(x, y) = x + 2y and we need to find the value of f(3, 4)

To find value of of f(3,4) we need to replace x, y with 3, 4 in f(x, y)
=> f(3, 4) = 2*3 + 4 = 6 + 4 = 10

Now, we need to take each answer choice and calculate the value and see which option gives us 10

(A) f(4, 3) = 2*4 + 3 = 8 + 3 = 11

(B) f(3, 7) = 2*3 + 7 = 6 + 7 = 13

(C) f(7, 4) = 2*7 + 4 = 14 + 4 = 18

(D) g(3, 4) = 3 + 2*4 = 3 + 8 = 11

(E) g(4, 3) = 4 + 2*3 = 4 + 6 = 10 [ which is equal to f(3,4) ]

So, Answer will be E
Hope it helps!
