We can solve this using 2 methods.
Method 1:
Let speed of the slower train be x
Faster train = x+15
Time taken = 6 hours
Distance =1680
Time* Speed = Distance
6(x+x+15)=1680
6(2x+15)=1680
2x+15=105
x=45
Slower train's speed = 45km/h.
Method 2:
Let's try by plugging in values.
Take C
Speed of slower train is 45km/h
Speed of faster train is now 45+15 = 60km/h
Since trains are moving in opposite directions and the gap is closing, we need to add up the speeds.
Speed is now =105km/h
Now, we know that the two trains have travelled for 16 hours.
Distance is Speed*Time
Therefore, 105*16= 1680km
Option (c) speed of slower train is 45km/h
