Re: 2/5 of the trucks have four-wheel drive, and 1/3 of the vehicles that [#permalink]

We do have two fractions, namely 2/5 and 1/3 so is wise to have a common denominator which is 15 overall

2/5 of 15 are 4WD=6

So 9 are NO 4WD

1/3 are 4WD + truck = 1/3 of 6 is 2

what fraction are trucks that have four wheel drive?

the sentence above tells us we want 4WD+Truck and we do have 2 of them OVER the total NO 4WD that are 9

2/9 is the answer

Here, do we consider Vehicles and trucks as one and the same? Having trucks and vehicles implies that trucks are the subset not the total.
