Re: One ounce of Solution X contains only ingredients a and b in a ratio o [#permalink]

I tried to do approach this problem in following way:
1) I knew that in soln. Z, X & Y are in the ratio 3:11, so first I did --- 3x + 11x = 630 (where we'll get x as 45)
Multiplying 45 by 3, I''ll get the quantity of soln. X in Soln Z which would be 135 and 495 of Soln Y.
2) Now, ik that soln X contains a and b in the ratio 2:3 so I'll --- 2x + 3x = 135 which would give us the value of x here and we got a = 54 from soln X
3) Now, do the same thing for Y --- 1x + 2x = 495 which would give us x= 165
4) Now add the values and we get 54+165= 219.
I found this approach a bit easier and simple.
