Points T and R coordinates are easily computed because the points are on the axes. Thus, point T has the same y-coordinate of point S and x-coordinate equal to 0, while point R has the same x-coordinate of point S and y-coordinate equal to zero.
Then, ST = 6 and SR = 4. Moreover, given that the two segments are perpendicular to the axes (right angles drawn on the figure) they are perpendicular among them too so that the triangle is a right triangle.
Its area is computed as (ST*SR)/2 = (6*4)/2 = 12.
