Quick Question: What is the best advice for someone who wants to go to graduate school eventually? How should I prepare in college for it?
Quick Answer: You’ll definitely want to get involved in some research with professors so that you start to understand what topics interest you. When you apply for grad school you will have to propose your own research topics, so it’d be good to get a sense of what you like and don’t like researching early.
You also want to make sure you’re eventually securing some leadership positions (lab coordinator, mentor, research lead etc) to show that you can lead others and coordinate research, unsupervised.
Also, start looking into some grad school programs (it’s never too early!). Some of them have specific course requirements for admission, so digging into this can give you a head start on completing those requirements.
