How many words per day would you suggest? I don't commute through public transport. So gotta stick to the traditional mnemonic method. I sat for the exam last November and scored somewhat like you. But last time I didn't study much for verbal. But this time I want to really give it a go.
Thanks in advance.

Well, let me answer you with my own experience:
When I started learning (I emphasize "learning" not memorizing)I tried to write a story in which all GRE words with their synonyms and antonyms were used, so that sometimes I learned 100 per day! It really depends on your story! For example, My story is about a rich family in which you can see silent, reticent and taciturn matron, fretful, peevish, grumpy girl! Also remember besides the story, you should write hard vocab on a whiteboard. at first maybe it seems hard but when you start writing your own story it will become easy. You should read and use GRE words in the sentences.
Generally I am good at reading and got 28 in reading at TOEFL ibt test and I don't have any problem with other sections in GRE verbal except RC.I waste time a lot in RC sections. Without timing, I can answer correctly more than 15 out of 20 verbal questions. In order to increase my speed in reading, I am reading journals and magazines everyday.
I hope I could help you.
