I went through few posts and a lot of people are suggesting to read articles from economist. So, What kind of articles should I read or say what section should I focus on? How should I read those articles to improve my understanding and eventually improve my scores in verbal section?
I'm looking forward for some pro tips and advices. I also actually want someone to share their experiences who actually started reading articles during their GRE preparation period and successfully increased their scores.
Hi
after so long here, advising the students, I am not quite sure why still people suggest to read the Economist. yes , it is true that it is still one of the best journals out there. One of the most prominent.
However, not always its articles are written with the same structure useful for the GRE. But the same could be say for the NYT or the WP.
My suggestion is to read things in a similar fashion to academic papers or articles Something that always states the main idea and what we could infer. Assumptions. Etc
I have created the following with tons of material collected over the years
GRE_Improve Reading!! Regularly UPDATEDNot only the reading above is more suitable for the GRE. But also those same readings are suggested by ETS itself
As for the way you should read, well, try to understand the overall message.
another example could be: if the article explains a new technology for solar panels, why they are not widely used?? what could we infer ?/ maybe they are not so used because is difficult to recycle once exhausted ....
This is the way I humble suggesting
In the files at the links above, I personally suggest to read BizEd and The University Magazine by Chicago Booth
